Bidoof books its third 222 percent rally of August against a market that drifted −0.2 percent all week. Also: Dragon Frontiers falls 36.5 percent while its Mew sells for $3,500, and the countdown logs Pikachu & Zekrom-GX at T-17. Post this →

Bidoof — a common from 2008's Stormfront with no competitive résumé — gained 222.1 percent overnight, its third 222 percent rally this month. The broader market moved negative 0.2 percent on the week. Both numbers are sourced below; only one of them is trying.
SNORLAX WATCH: Day 21 · Conviction unshaken | BUREAU: 0-for-21 | KESSLER IOUs: 340 DM | 30 TO 30: T-17§MARKETSThe DeskThe market, in numbers we can source.
The tracked market slipped −0.2 percent over seven days and sits +2.5 percent over thirty, with an average card price of $22.89 across 41,431 tracked cards, per Pokémon Wizard (refreshed hourly; pulled August 30). The most valuable single in that index remains Umbreon ex from Prismatic Evolutions at $1,465.99.

The day's movers, per PokéPrice's movers board (August 30):

MetagrossEX Deoxys$60.83+286.2%

BidoofStormfront$8.89+222.1%

Pikachu ★Holon Phantoms$2,077.50−35.1%

Rocket's Suicune exTeam Rocket Returns$300.00−36.8%
What's real: the broad drift. What's thin: everything above. A $60 holo does not gain 286 percent on volume; a move that size on a twenty-year-old single is almost certainly one sale finding one buyer. Pokémon Wizard's set table agrees from the other side — Dragon Frontiers was the week's worst set at −36.5 percent, the kind of decline a handful of transactions can produce. Treat the ticker as anecdotes with decimal points.
3030 TO 30T-minus 17Counting down to 30th Celebration, one honest number at a time.
Today's confirmed Classic Collection entry: Pikachu & Zekrom-GX, shown in PokéBeach's set reveal alongside the Base Charizard. The original — Team Up 33/181, 2019, the card that made "TAG TEAM" a tax bracket — logs at $51.25 raw on PriceCharting (August 30; last raw sale $42 on August 29, with venue quotes spread from $30 on eBay to $57 on TCGplayer), and $653.60 in PSA 10. The ledger now runs five entries deep — a Charizard, a Pikachu, a Gengar, a Lugia (logged near $3,100 at T-18), and today's tag team. We will re-read these prices on the far side of September 16. If you would rather not do the watching yourself, Cash'em price alerts exist for exactly this.

✦OPINIONAz Loses ItConsumer advocacy, delivered at volume.
The 30th Celebration set releases September 16. Cards from it sold on eBay on August 15 — one for $1,400 after 24 bids, another listed at $2,500 Buy It Now — because packs leaked out a month early, the leaks went to livestreams, and the livestreams went to the auction block. A distribution system that cannot keep a worldwide simultaneous release sealed for thirty days has manufactured a new product: earliness. Not the card — the card will exist in every language on every continent in three weeks, and the same reporting notes stock will be plentiful. What sold for $1,400 was the privilege of owning it before the people who followed the rules. The hobby perfected artificial scarcity years ago; it has now achieved artificial chronology, and somewhere a bidder paid four figures to time-travel eighteen business days. The Pulse suggests waiting. Waiting is free and arrives at the same card.
◐CORRESPONDENCEThe Berlin DeskVolker & Lutz Brandt — one vault, every price in Deutsche Marks.
The Brandts filed the following overnight. The barometer they mention has not been acknowledged and will not be.
VOLKER: A Mew from Dragon Frontiers has sold for $3,500, which is in honest currency 5,910 Deutsche Marks, at the euro rate your newspapers on August 28 printed.
LUTZ: And the Pikachu Star has fallen to $2,077.50 — which is 3,508 Deutsche Marks. So the Pikachu costs in Deutsche Marks almost exactly what the Mew costs in dollars.
VOLKER: This is not coincidence. This is the market, politely for conversion asking.
LUTZ: Az, we have sent you a barometer. It measures pressure, which you are under — we can it from here feel. We love the footnotes. You we love slightly more.
VOLKER: Buy nothing. Feel everything. Tschüss.
∟GEOMETRYThe Bureau of Right AnglesTerry Kowalczyk measures what no one else will.
Terry has measured the market's weekly move of −0.2 percent and certifies that, within instrument tolerance, it is a straight line — which he calls "the rarest angle" and is counting as a personal result. The Bureau's geometry is real. The Bureau's conclusions are Terry's. Bureau Picks: 0-for-21.
☾OPINIONAll In On SnorlaxOne conviction, held past all reason.
Day 21. The 30th Celebration will contain every Legendary Pokémon ever printed. It will contain thirty separate Pikachu. It is not, per any reveal this desk has reviewed, confirmed to contain a single Snorlax. The omission has only strengthened the thesis: an asset the anniversary forgot is an asset the market has not yet priced. The position is unchanged because the position does not move. Neither does Snorlax. That is the point. This section is opinion; Az does not give financial advice; Az cannot legally own assets.
